Welcome

To Silver Wood
Inn Bed and Breakfast
Is a Colorado Springs Bed and Breakfast set in rural Colorado and located in the contemporary home of Bess and Larry Oliver.
Silver Wood
Inn Bed & Breakfast is off the beaten path just 30 miles west of Colorado Springs. Guests come here for the stillness, the great breakfasts, the views, the lovely Colorado lodging and the hosts. Breakfast is served in the Great Room that features a 20 foot long wall of 10 foot high windows that looks into a stand of aspen. Deer have left breath marks on those windows. A bear left nose prints and a paw print there. Unfortunately, we can't guarantee how the wild animals will behave on any given day. But its a real show when one decides to stop by.

After breakfast guests can walk the Fairy Slipper Trail that passes near the inn. In April, there are the pasque flowers which are the first blossoms of the year and there are surprise snow storms. In May, the aspen are dressing for the summer. In early June, you can see the rare fairy slipper. In late June, you can find clusters of columbine. All through the summer there's a varying selection of wildflowers.
Silver Wood
Inn Bed & Breakfast is at 9,200 feet above sea level 4 miles outside of Divide, Colorado. The mountains of Continental Divide are in clear view to the west and because of the clean air its hard to believe that they are 70 miles away. Lower mountains fill the scene in between Silver Wood and the Continental Divide. Pikes Peak dominates the landscape to the southeast.

| Summer is a great time for sightseeing. The top of Pikes Peak is about 6 miles from base to top for the hiker. Otherwise, you can drive the road to the top or ride the cog railroad. Mueller State Park, Fossil Bed National Monument and the Lost Creek Wilderness are near at hand and have glorious views, hiking trails and wildlife. The Royal Gorge is 55 miles away on beautiful country roads. You can fish the headwaters of the Platte River or just sit and dangle your feet in the cold water. There's historic Cripple Creek 22 miles away with working and extinct gold mines in the over looking mountains and melodrama theater and low stakes gambling in town. If you want, you can ride a miner's "cage" 1000 feet down a mine shaft and be escorted through a drift (mine tunnel) from which gold ore was removed until in the 30's. |

Fall lasts from about mid September into the first week of October.
It is the glory time of the year. Stands of aspen dazzle with brilliant gold, fiery crimson and sunset orange. A walk through the woods floods your vision. The days are warm. The nights are crisp.
In the winter you can sometimes strap on a pair of our snowshoes and hike in the nearby woods. Bring your cross country skis and you can often travel the trails of the nearby parks and forests. Breckenridge and Monarch ski resorts are 83 and 100 miles away and can be reached in a couple of hours of driving.
